Coadministration with inhibitors of CYP450 3A4 (like nifedipine) may increase the plasma concentrations of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (i.e., statins) that are metabolized by the isoenzyme. Lovastatin and simvastatin are particularly susceptible because of their low oral bioavailability, but others such as atorvastatin and cerivastatin may also be affected. High levels of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitory activity in plasma is associated with an increased risk of musculoskeletal toxicity.

I would have to respectfully ***** ***** the above answer.
Nifedapine can in fact increase the effective level of lipitor in the blood.
In other cases it can degrease the level.
This is considered a significant interaction and the advice is to monitor closely.

In fact when starting lipitor with this other medications it should not be just try it and see how it goes, but your doctor should be monitoring closely with you, and should also run a blood test to check the liver enzymes at some point.
You should have a liver function test before you start this medicine and then periodically afterwords, per the manufactures recommendation and good clinically practice. For example, you might have liver inflammation go undetected if you to not do this.

I would have expected, as part of sound medical practice, that the customer's physician would have checked his liver function tests. That is standard of care.
You CAN take the medication together as mentioned above.
If you check the drugs.com database, you will see that they have a moderate interaction as I have explained above. This is not to say that you cannot take the medication together, but you may be prone to more side effects such as muscle weakness, etc. I have seen many patients on this combination and they do just fine.
As I advised before, you can take the medication and see if it works for you. Your physician, as part of standard of care will be following your labs test on a regular basis, as they would with any similar patient. But if you do develop muscle pain, weakness, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting or yellowing of the skin, contact your physician right away.
