In February of 2015, Hartwick's United States Colored Troops Institute (USCTI) and American Society of Freedmen Descendants (ASFD), led by Harry Bradshaw Matthews, expanded their original mission to include highlighting and documenting the services of Latino and Caribbean soldiers, as well as including those who fought post-Civil War. The change was not meant to replace the original focus of the USCTI, but rather to continue its legacy for the future. That year the ASFD recognized the family of NY State Judge Lucindo Hilda Suarez for researching their connections to the Borinqueneers, the only all-Hispanic infantry unit in the history of the U.S. Army.#hartwickcollege

Look who recently came back to Oyaron Hill: Crystal Wilcox '09 and Rachael (Utegg) Boylston '19 were part of a career panel over the common hour, sponsored by the Hartwick College STEM Society, which is funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Inclusive Excellence 3 grant. This is the second annual career panel, giving students a valuable opportunity to hear from successful alumni in science. Wilcox and Boylston stuck around for a True Blue Weekend STEM Mixer event in the Johnstone Science Center, where students, parents, and alumni were able to network and catch up. Interested in STEM?
